Welcome to all!  I hope this page will be a useful resource.
The focus: How to use today's fabrics and techniques to create
meaningful, beautiful, and/or fun quilted Judaica. Whether it's a wedding chuppah, a challah cover, an heirloom tallit, an argument-provoking matzoh cover
you'll find ideas and inspiration from quilters around the world on these pages.

This year's PPP (Personal Pesach Productions) include....

The Golden Flying Matzoh Ball

I decided that I needed to make a Golden Matzoh Ball, by sewing together two small kippot made from matzoh fabric, with a strip of lame in the middle.

My initial thought was that I could make several, and serve them in soup bowls (without liquid) as a surprise for the kids.

But after making the ball part, I started thinking that this could be like Harry Potter's Golden Snitch - whoever finds it wins a special prize in the afikomen hunt.

I told this to my son. He said, "But it needs wings!"

So I quilted gold lame wings.

This version came out a bit messy (That middle piece wasn't cut on the bias, and is interfaced, which didn't help). I may have to try again, though my medical friend, Dr. Steven, fears that if there are more than one, they will---like Tribbles on the first Starship Enterprise---court, reproduce and soon fill  my air conditioning ducts, my  entire spaceship, and eventually, the planet.

(Since it is golden, and rather ornate object, I may have to add a label saying, "Please Do Not Worship.")

If only my dining area had rafters. I could attach it to a string and pullies, and have it rise, fall, and fly around like a pinata.

This one has fluffy stuffing, but I'm thinking that with the plastic pellet stuffing, it may be rather like a hacky-sack ball (And it would be heavier. When it comes to matzoh balls, heavy is good).

Plus, Passover postcards galore, including the inevitable:

Seder Plate Postcards

(click thumbnails  for a full image)

Made for a quilters' postcard exchange. Finding fabrics to signify seder plate contents, on such a tiny scale (those ovals are less than an inch long) was the big challenge. What we have here (starting at noon) is apple fabric; strange golden leaf fabric; egg fabric, root vegetable fabric, cabbage fabric, and bone fabric (from a Cinquo de Mayo print...don't ask). The central oval is quilted matzoh fabric, with batting and backing, glued on.

And,

& Plague Postcards

Similarly. The purple things are wine drops.

Wishing you a creative, high-fiber Passover!
